Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sanjay Raut on Wednesday alleged a conspiracy against Rahul Gandhi and a threat to his life, in strong condemnation of remarks made by BJP-Shiv Sena lawmakers against the Congress leader.
Speaking to reporters, Raut questioned the quietness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah following remarks by ruling party leaders targeting Gandhi.
People from Delhi, Lucknow, and Maharashtra are voicing that Gandhi will meet the same fate as his grandmother Indira Gandhi and his father Rajiv Gandhi, implying higher-level complicity, Raut claimed. He underscored that Gandhi, as Leader of Opposition, holds a Cabinet rank and should be safeguarded by the highest offices.
BJP's Rajya Sabha member Anil Bonde has added fuel by suggesting Gandhi's tongue should be singed for his controversial statements regarding the reservation system. The furor escalated when Shiv Sena's Buldhana MLA Sanjay Gaikwad offered a financial reward for anyone who could chop off Gandhi's tongue following his recent statements in the USA about potentially scrapping the reservation system.
