Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has commended the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Siddaramaiah expressed that the ruling strengthens public confidence in the country's judiciary. He shared his thoughts in a post on social media platform X, expressing hope for those pursuing truth and justice.

In his statement, Siddaramaiah also criticized the BJP, accusing the party of abusing constitutional institutions for political gain. He described the Supreme Court's decision as a reprimand to the central BJP government led by Narendra Modi, which he claimed has resorted to politics of hatred. Siddaramaiah urged the government to learn from the court's ruling, emphasizing that ultimately, truth and justice will prevail.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal on Friday in a corruption case filed by the CBI concerning allegations of irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. The court ruled that prolonged incarceration amounts to an unjust deprivation of liberty. Kejriwal was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21, 2024, as part of a money laundering investigation. On June 26, 2024, the CBI arrested him while he was under ED's custody. Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan granted bail under conditions, including a Rs 10 lakh bail bond and restrictions on public comment about the case. Kejriwal is required to attend all trial court hearings unless excused.
