Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticized the government in the Lok Sabha after a video surfaced showing a restaurant chain owner apologizing to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for raising issues about GST rates.
In the video, Srinivasan, the owner of Annapoorna chain of restaurants, is seen apologizing after highlighting concerns over GST's varying rates at a recent event. Gandhi stated that the government's 'fragile egos' hurt small business owners who already face numerous difficulties.
Gandhi emphasized that a simplified GST regime would significantly aid small businesses. He accused the government of prioritizing the needs of billionaires over small business owners, who have suffered from policies like demonetization and tax extortion.
