The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to apologize for jailing its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, following the Supreme Court's decision to grant him bail in the excise policy case. AAP leaders asserted that the court's order exposed BJP's 'lies' about Kejriwal's alleged wrongdoing.
At a joint press conference, senior AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia described the bail order as a significant relief for the party. Sisodia emphasized that the judgment was not just about Kejriwal's bail but also a strong rebuke to the BJP-led central government to stop its 'dictatorship'.
The BJP was accused of using governmental agencies to keep Kejriwal imprisoned, with Sisodia alleging that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) deliberately arrested Kejriwal. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh added that the case against Kejriwal was founded on 'lies' intended to tarnish both him and the party.
