The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and Azad Samaj Party (ASP) alliance on Thursday unveiled two additional candidates for the Haryana assembly elections. JJP nominated Rajita Singh from Shahabad and Suresh Saini from Narnaul, while extending support to independent candidate Sajjan Dhul from Pundri.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its seventh list of three candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly election, covering all 90 assembly seats in the state. The multi-cornered contest features the major players, including the BJP and Congress, who have also fielded their candidates. The nomination process concluded on Thursday.

Leaders from various political parties have exuded confidence in their prospects. The BJP aims for its third consecutive term, with Congress, AAP, and others striving to unseat it. The prelude to the elections witnessed some leaders resigning over ticket denials. Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly is scheduled for October 5, with the counting of votes on October 8.

In the 2019 assembly polls, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats. The BJP formed the government in alliance with JJP. (ANI)
