Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand BJP co-incharge, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in Dallas, USA, accusing him of consistently humiliating India and promoting China. Sarma stated, "Rahul Gandhi always promotes China. He always humiliates India and projects China as an ideal nation. There is no democracy in China, there is no religious freedom. Does Rahul Gandhi tell this to people? The MoU signed between the Congress and the Communist Party of China should be exposed."
During his visit to Dallas, Texas, on September 8, Rahul Gandhi discussed unemployment issues and criticized India for focusing on consumption over production. He remarked, "The act of production creates jobs. What we do, what the Americans do, what the West does, is we organize consumption."
Gandhi compared the current global production landscape to past decades, highlighting China's dominance in production, while the West, including India, has shifted focus. Addressing ideological differences with the RSS, he asserted, "The RSS believes that India is one idea and we believe that India is a multiplicity of ideas." Gandhi added that Congress supports inclusion and diversity and accused the Prime Minister of attacking the Indian Constitution.
In response, BJP leaders have heavily criticized Gandhi. MP Manoj Tiwari accused him of undermining India's image abroad, while Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lambasted Gandhi for 'tarnishing' India's reputation. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia called Gandhi a "black spot on democracy," and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha lambasted him for his remarks on RSS and unemployment, alleging that Gandhi aims to insult and tarnish the country's image.
