BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia has demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of siding with the accused in a recent rape case instead of supporting the victim's family. He stated that India's democracy is shamed by the incident.
Following a Supreme Court directive for the CBI to submit a fresh report by September 17, Bhatia criticized Banerjee during a Delhi press conference. He claimed that the CM failed to support the victim's family and hinted at potential evidence tampering.
Bhatia demanded the resignation of Banerjee, calling for a fair investigation and urging for her polygraph test if the probe reveals negligence. The Supreme Court also ordered the immediate removal of the victim's photos from social media and called for increased safety measures for doctors.
