BJP activists in Manipal are facing charges from the police for allegedly trying to burn an effigy of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah.
Officials state that a group of BJP workers gathered at Syndicate Circle on September 6 and planned to march to the Deputy Commissioner's office. Their aim was to submit a memorandum protesting the withdrawal of a state award from a Kundapur teacher.
However, their plans escalated to include beating a portrait of the Chief Minister with footwear and burning an effigy, prompting police intervention. Despite lacking authorisation for their gathering, the activists proceeded, leading to an FIR being filed against them, naming Girish Anchan and Prithviraj Shetty Billadi as key accused.
