In a significant anti-narcotics operation conducted on Monday, Assam Police seized 1 lakh Yaba tablets in the Jalalpur area and arrested three individuals allegedly carrying the contraband, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Minister congratulated Assam Police for their unwavering commitment to a 'Drug-Free Assam' and shared details of the operation on social media, noting that the arrested individuals were traveling in a vehicle from a neighboring state.

This operation follows a series of similar actions. On September 1, Dhemaji Police arrested three individuals for allegedly carrying around 2.95 grams of narcotics following a tip-off. In another operation on August 31, Karimganj police apprehended a suspect with 10,000 Yaba tablets in Chargola Bazar. These continuous efforts showcase the state government's resolve to curb illicit drug smuggling.

The crackdown extends beyond narcotics to illicit liquor as well. On September 1, Sonitpur Police destroyed 800 liters of illicit liquor in Railway Colony under Rangapara police station based on intelligence. Karimganj police also conducted a drive against illicit liquor and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Ashimganj, seizing numerous bottles and raising awareness against illicit liquor consumption. Additionally, on August 7, the Tripura Police, with Border Security Force (BSF), seized Rs 70 lakh worth of Yaba tablets and arrested around 11 Bangladeshi nationals along with an Indian in four separate operations.
