Undaunted by three consecutive electoral defeats, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy from the National Conference is set to contest the Doda Assembly seat in the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections.
Suharwardy's political journey includes a legacy from his late father, Attaullah Suharwardy, and a tenure as Minister of State for Home under Farooq Abdullah. Despite setbacks in 2002, 2008, and 2014, where independent and BJP candidates emerged victorious, he remains optimistic, asserting his decade-long commitment to the constituency.
Suharwardy emphasizes the restoration of Article 370, job creation, and development projects as his main agenda. He faces stiff competition from Abdul Majid Wani (DPAP), Gajay Singh Rana (BJP), Sheikh Riaz Ahmed (Congress), and others. The Doda constituency, with over 98,000 voters, will decide the outcome in a multi-cornered contest.
