PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti lambasted National Conference leader Omar Abdullah for his decision to contest from two seats in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Mufti pointed out that Abdullah had repeatedly claimed he would not enter elections until statehood was restored to J&K.
Abdullah has filed nominations for both Ganderbal and Budgam seats on separate dates, defending his decision by arguing that contesting from multiple seats underscores the National Conference's solid standing. He emphasized that the party has seen growing support across regions like Baramulla, Anantnag, and Srinagar.
The National Conference is battling the elections in alliance with the Congress party, receiving additional support from the Samajwadi Party. The elections are scheduled in three phases: September 18, 25, and October 1, with vote counting set for October 8.
