Union Minister of State and BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar has launched a fierce attack against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder incident. Majumdar accused the TMC of attempting to conceal the incident from the outset and tampering with evidence. According to Majumdar, the party even tried to mislead the public by portraying the incident as a suicide.

Majumdar further claimed that TMC is shielding former RG Kar principal, Sandip Ghosh. He alleged that Ghosh has been continuously assigned to various positions despite multiple accusations against him. Majumdar criticized Mamata Banerjee for protecting Ghosh, who has now been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty at the Health Department after facing resistance from students at the National Medical College.

The rape and murder of a trainee woman doctor in Kolkata has provoked widespread protests in West Bengal and beyond. Dr. Sandip Ghosh is currently under 8-day police custody, with the next case hearing scheduled for September 10. The CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch has also detained Ghosh alongside three others for alleged corruption and financial misconduct at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The West Bengal Health Department has suspended Ghosh following these developments.
