Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday for a two-day visit, focused on strengthening India-Singapore ties and attracting investments from the Southeast Asian nation.

Invited by Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong, Modi will engage with three generations of Singapore's leadership, according to New Delhi officials.

'Landed in Singapore. Looking forward to meetings aimed at boosting India-Singapore friendship and deepening cultural ties,' Modi posted on X shortly after his arrival, marking his fifth official trip to Singapore.

Modi flew to Singapore after completing the first bilateral visit by any Indian prime minister to Brunei.

'PM @narendramodi lands in the Lion City, Singapore today. Warmly received by Minister of Home Affairs and Law K Shanmugam of Singapore. An action-packed agenda lies ahead,' noted the Ministry of External Affairs on X.

The prime minister will receive an official welcome at the Parliament House on Thursday and meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

This visit comes as Wong assumes office and Modi begins his third term as prime minister.

'I look forward to discussions to deepen our Strategic Partnership with Singapore, especially in advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development,' Modi posted on X before his departure from New Delhi. Accompanying him are Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and other officials.

'The leaders will review the progress of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and exchange views on regional and global mutual interests,' noted a Ministry of External Affairs statement.

Modi will also meet Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, and Singaporean business leaders, focusing on semiconductor ecosystems. MoUs on manpower skilling in the semiconductor sector will be signed, enhancing skills and opportunities for India's youth, officials said.
