Prime Minister Christopher Luxon held a bilateral meeting today with President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea, marking a significant step forward in the relationship between the two nations.

"Korea and New Zealand are likeminded democracies and natural partners in the Indo-Pacific. As such, we have decided to advance discussions on elevating the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, recognizing the close ties that have developed over more than sixty years of diplomatic relations," stated Prime Minister Luxon.

During the meeting, the leaders agreed to enhance collaboration across various areas, including defence, security, trade, and multilateral engagements, as well as fostering stronger people-to-people connections.
