India is keen to deepen its relationship with Singapore, particularly in the new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing technology such as semiconductors, according to Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, Shilpak Ambule.

Speaking to ANI, Ambule emphasized Singapore's significant role as a pillar of engagement in ASEAN countries and its crucial position in India's Indo-Pacific strategy. "We are setting the stage for a further boost in advanced manufacturing technology. There is much to be learned from Singapore, especially in terms of skills, which aligns with our skilling initiatives," he said.

Ambule noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership with Singapore, and India is focused on diversifying cooperation into fields like advanced technology manufacturing, green growth, and sustainability. He also lauded Singapore's expertise in developing semiconductor clusters and expressed interest in collaboration in this sector. "Our bilateral trade has doubled in the past decade, and Singapore remains our largest source of FDI. We encourage more Singaporean companies to invest in India's emerging sectors," he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a two-nation visit, starting with Brunei, followed by Singapore where discussions are expected to further deepen the strategic partnership, particularly in advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development.
