Ukrainian Government Shake-Up Amidst Ongoing War
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba resigned amid a major government reshuffle initiated by President Zelenskiy. This comes at a crucial time in Ukraine's war against Russia. Zelenskiy argues these changes are necessary for Ukraine's success. More resignations and appointments are expected soon.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba resigned on Wednesday, becoming the highest-profile casualty of a significant government reshuffle ordered by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This move comes at a critical moment in the 30-month conflict with Russia.
More resignations and new appointments are anticipated in the coming days following the departure of five ministers on Tuesday, which a senior Zelenskiy ally described as a government 'reset' ahead of colder seasons. Kuleba's resignation letter was shared on Facebook by the parliament's speaker, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Zelenskiy emphasized the necessity of the government changes to meet Ukraine's objectives. Meanwhile, Russian forces are progressing in the east, and Ukrainian troops have made incursions into Russia's Kursk region. Drone and missile attacks have ramped up on both sides in recent weeks.
