Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Monday that a high-level probe will be conducted into serious allegations made by ruling LDF MLA P V Anvar against senior IPS officers.
The chief minister emphasized the seriousness with which the government will address these issues, stating that any breach of discipline within the police force will not be tolerated.
Vijayan noted that the government consistently examines issues on their merit, irrespective of their origin.
His comments were made during a police association event.
He confirmed that a top-ranking officer will be entrusted with investigating the allegations, without specifically mentioning Anvar's claims.
The announcement followed accusations by Nilambur MLA Anvar that high-ranking officials, including CM's political secretary P Sasi and ADGP Ajith Kumar, had engaged in misconduct such as phone tapping and links to gold smuggling.
Anvar also made charges against Pathanamthitta SP Sujith Das.
The allegations have incited strong reactions from opposition parties, who have called for CM Vijayan's immediate resignation.
The Congress termed Anvar's charges as ''utmost serious'' and ''alarming'' and called for a comprehensive probe into the alleged illegal activities in the Chief Minister's Office.
The BJP demanded that the CM clarify the allegations made by the ruling front MLA.
