The ruling Congress in Karnataka has announced the 'Raj Bhavan Chalo' protest scheduled for August 31 to express concerns over Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's alleged sanctioning of an 'illegal order' for the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated on Friday that the party would also organize district-level agitations to voice their protest. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also the party's state president, have endorsed the protest programme, Parameshwara confirmed.
Parameshwara explained that the Karnataka Cabinet has already deemed the investigation and prosecution order against the CM illegal and has provided evidence to the Governor, which was allegedly overlooked. In addition to court proceedings, party members are determined to press their case in public demonstrations and direct discussions with the Governor.
