The reaction came in light of Murmu's exclusive article, where she condemned the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, expressing that ''enough is enough'' and urging the country to address the systemic ''perversion'' of crimes against women.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated at a press conference that the issue's seriousness is underscored by the president's statements and insisted that political bickering should cease to focus on delivering justice and preventing future crimes.

A nationwide outcry has emerged over the recent incident, with a 12-hour shutdown affecting daily life in West Bengal. Trivedi criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, dismissing her announcement of stricter laws as a diversion tactic and condemning her government's ''dictatorial'' approach.
