Congress leader Kumari Selja promised on Monday to conduct a caste census in Haryana if her party secures victory in the upcoming assembly elections.
In her statement, the Congress general secretary and Sirsa MP highlighted that 74 percent of India's population supports a caste-based census. She criticized the BJP for its stance on the matter, labeling them as anti-Dalit and anti-reservation.
Selja stated, "Once the Congress forms the government in the state, a caste-based census will be conducted," underscoring the party's commitment to this initiative. Rahul Gandhi, another leading Congress figure, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the crucial need for such a census.
