The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), under the leadership of former Prime Minister Khalida Zia, voiced its frustration on Monday regarding the lack of a clear 'roadmap' for the country's democratic transition in Chief Adviser Mohammad Yunus's recent address to the nation.

Chief Adviser Yunus, who took charge of the interim government on August 8 following Sheikh Hasina's regime, reassured the nation on Sunday about his administration's commitment to holding free, fair, and inclusive elections after implementing necessary reforms.

Despite Yunus's promises, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir critiqued the speech for not presenting a concrete plan for moving towards democracy. Alamgir expressed the need for immediate dialogues between the government and political parties to decide on election reforms. Nevertheless, he expressed optimism for positive change.
