Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. abandoned his campaign on Friday and endorsed Republican Donald Trump, ending a run that he began as a Democrat leveraging a highly recognized name in American politics. Hours later, Kennedy joined Trump at a campaign event in Arizona, receiving loud cheers from the crowd.

'His candidacy has inspired millions and millions of Americans, raised critical issues that have been too long ignored in this country,' Trump said of Kennedy. Political strategists remain uncertain if Kennedy's endorsement will aid Trump, who is in a tight contest with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the Nov. 5 election.

Kennedy, 70, stated in a news conference that he had multiple discussions with Trump and his aides, realizing they shared views on border security, free speech, and ending wars. Despite ongoing disagreements on various matters, they align on key issues, Kennedy explained to reporters. He reiterated these points at the Arizona rally, emphasizing his stances on combating chronic illness and eliminating hazardous chemicals from the environment and food supply.
