Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Ends Campaign, Endorses Donald Trump
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ended his campaign and endorsed Donald Trump. Despite initially challenging Biden as a Democrat, Kennedy switched to an independent run. His support dipped following rapid political changes, leading him to endorse Trump, hoping for potential roles in a Trump administration.
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. abandoned his campaign on Friday and endorsed Republican Donald Trump, ending a presidential bid that he began as a Democrat trading on one of the most famous names in American politics. Strategists remain uncertain whether Kennedy's endorsement will aid Trump, who is contesting Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
Kennedy disclosed having met Trump and his aides several times, discovering shared views on key issues like border security, free speech, and ending wars. "Though significant differences remain, we align on various critical topics," he stated during a news conference.
With his support dwindling to 4% in recent polls, Kennedy's decision came amid significant shifts in the political landscape - including Trump surviving an assassination attempt, and Biden stepping down, endorsing Kamala Harris. Trump's pollster believes Kennedy's endorsement could sway battleground states in favor of Trump.
