BSP chief Mayawati has launched a scathing attack on both the BJP and the opposition's INDIA bloc. She alleges that the ruling party maintains an anti-SC/ST stance, especially concerning the sub-classification and identification of the creamy layer within these communities for reservations.
Earlier this month, a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, ruled that states could sub-classify communities within the SC list based on empirical data. Justice B R Gavai also emphasized the need for states to develop a system to identify the creamy layer among the SCs and STs to exclude them from reservation benefits.
In a series of posts on X, Mayawati expressed her concern over the Centre's lack of concrete action to counter the Supreme Court's decision. She accused the BJP of weak advocacy in court and failing to present a Constitution Amendment Bill. Furthermore, she criticized the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and their INDIA bloc for their silence on the issue, asserting that the interests of SCs and STs are only safe with the Ambedkarite BSP.
