Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of peace and diplomacy over conflict during his visit to Ukraine on Thursday. His remarks followed wide-ranging talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, leading to the elevation of India-Poland ties to a strategic partnership and the firming up of a social security pact to promote skilled worker mobility.
The two leaders reiterated international law adherence and urged states to refrain from using force against another's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Modi expressed deep concern over ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, highlighting the tragic humanitarian consequences and the need for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.
After his Warsaw visit, Modi traveled to Kyiv for talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aiming to find resolutions to the Ukraine conflict. Modi reiterated that India's stance favors dialogue and diplomacy, reaffirming commitments to global peace, defense cooperation, and United Nations reform.
