The Election Commission has halted Haryana authorities from announcing recruitment results for police constables and teachers, just days ahead of the assembly polls, sparking a political clash. The Congress has accused the BJP of exploiting the youth during their decade-long rule.

To level the playing field, the Election Commission responded to a complaint by Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, citing a breach of the model code of conduct. The complaint involved 5,600 constable vacancies, 76 teacher posts, and other positions.

Speaking on social media platform X, Ramesh alleged that the BJP-led government delayed recruitment and favored its affiliates, accusing it of exploitation under the guise of government contracts. The assembly elections in Haryana are scheduled for October 1, with results on October 4.

However, the Election Commission emphasized that regular recruitment or promotions by statutory bodies are unaffected, and the processes initiated before August 16 comply with the existing poll code.
