In a dramatic assertion, former chief minister Harish Rawat took to the streets of Gairsain on Wednesday, armed with a burning candle, claiming he was "searching" for Uttarakhand's elusive summer capital.
Rawat lamented the deplorable conditions, pointing out the abundance of potholes, under-equipped hospitals, and dry taps that symbolized Gairsain's current state. Despite signboards labeling Gairsain as the summer capital, he questioned the visible lack of infrastructure.
Promising change, Rawat declared that if Congress wins the 2027 election, Gairsain would be established as the permanent capital with the promised infrastructure. His comments also reflected on his tenure, mentioning his thwarted plans due to early dismissal.
