The BJP has called on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to clarify his party's stance on Articles 370 and 35A amidst his visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Tarun Chugh, BJP general secretary and party's organisational in-charge for the Union Territory, stated that Gandhi's visit will provide him insight into the 'peace and development' brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.
Chugh accused three political families—the Congress, National Conference, and PDP—of fostering separatism and terrorism over past decades, a trend he claimed the BJP government reversed since 2014, contributing to the region's new identity as a tourism hub. He also noted significant voter turnout in recent elections. The 2019 abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, which granted special rights to Jammu and Kashmir, and the bifurcation into Union Territories have been contentious issues, with opposition parties demanding their restoration while Congress primarily seeks the restoration of statehood.
