Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has denied any involvement in a mining land allotment case, attributing the allegations to a political vendetta by the Congress government. Kumaraswamy stated that allegations about a mining allotment during his tenure as Chief Minister in 2007 are baseless and aimed at maligning his reputation.
The Supreme Court had earlier permitted an inquiry into the matter, which has yet to conclude despite multiple status reports filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka Lokayukta. Kumaraswamy claims the Congress is leveraging this case for political gain, highlighting that no mining areas have been allocated thus far.
Current Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also weighed in, accusing the Governor of discrimination in handling the cases against him and Kumaraswamy. Siddaramaiah questioned why the Governor granted immediate permission to prosecute him in another alleged scam while delaying action against Kumaraswamy. The controversy continues to unfold as the SIT prepares to file a chargesheet against Kumaraswamy.
