A 46-year-old woman from Mumbai, employed as a personal assistant in the police force, was allegedly defrauded by a man she met on a matrimonial site, an official stated on Sunday.

The woman, a divorcee, had posted her details on the site seeking remarriage. She was approached by Pratik Sanjay Deore-Patil, who convinced her to invest Rs 95,000 between March and August with promises of lucrative returns, the official from Kalwa police station disclosed.

Deore-Patil also issued threats to the woman. He has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal intimidation, and other related offences but remains unapprehended as of now, the official added.
