Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday. Ibrahim is visiting India for the first time since taking office in 2022.

Ibrahim's three-day official visit commenced on Monday night. On Tuesday, he engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused on mending and enhancing bilateral relations, which had experienced a strain during the tenure of Mahathir Mohamad.

In a significant outcome, India and Malaysia decided to elevate their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, marking a new chapter in their diplomatic ties.
