The BJP's central leadership has nominated Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bypoll in Rajasthan, according to party sources.
Bittu, who is currently the Union Minister of State for Railway and Food Processing Industries, made headlines earlier this year by switching allegiance from Congress to BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The by-election for the lone vacant Rajya Sabha seat in Rajasthan is slated to take place on September 3. This seat became vacant following the resignation of Congress leader KC Venugopal, who left the Rajya Sabha after winning a seat in the Lok Sabha.
