Australia and Indonesia Sign Historic Defence Treaty

Australia and Indonesia have reached a landmark treaty-level defence cooperation agreement, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Tuesday.

'This historic treaty will bolster our strong defense cooperation by deepening dialogue, strengthening interoperability, and enhancing practical arrangements,' Albanese said during a joint press conference in Canberra with Indonesia's President-elect Prabowo Subianto. The treaty is set to be signed in Indonesia in the coming days, he added.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations of the two nations, aiming to fortify regional security and cooperation.
