Bangladesh paceman Shoriful Islam will miss the two-test series in India this month due to a groin injury he suffered in Pakistan, the country's cricket board announced on Thursday. Bangladesh are riding a wave of success after securing their first test series victory against Pakistan.
The 23-year-old Shoriful, who claimed three wickets in the first test in Rawalpindi, missed the second test owing to the injury. 'Left-arm paceman Shoriful Islam is still recovering from a groin injury and was unavailable for the series,' stated the Bangladesh Cricket Board while naming a 16-member squad for the India tour.
Uncapped Jaker Ali Anik has been included as the second wicketkeeper despite Litton Das, who played a crucial role in their victory against Pakistan, set to keep the gloves. The first test begins in Chennai on Sept. 19, followed by the second match in Kanpur on Sept. 27. India, top in the World Test Championship standings, will also play New Zealand and Australia in upcoming series.
