Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde revealed in an exclusive interview with ANI that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government had planned to arrest Devendra Fadnavis and himself to weaken the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shinde expressed his objections, which led to plans for his own arrest as well.
Shinde also disclosed that Anil Deshmukh, the former Home Minister of Maharashtra, had denied him Z-plus security despite receiving threats from Naxalites. "I was threatened for my development work in Gadchiroli, yet security was denied even after recommendations from multiple agencies," Shinde said.
Further, Shinde criticized the interference of Uddhav Thackeray's family in governmental affairs during his tenure. He emphasized the need for on-the-ground governance and face-to-face communication with citizens, contrasting this approach with Thackeray's style of remote administration.
Shinde highlighted the Mahayuti government's achievements since coming to power, including key infrastructure projects like the Samruddhi Mahamarg and Atal Setu. He also touched upon the shifting voter base in Maharashtra, stating that core Shiv Sena voters have shifted to BJP while the votes Shiv Sena-UBT received were temporary and largely from minority communities.
