In a sharp critique, Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, lambasted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Home Department, pointing to a significant security lapse after bomb-like substances were found in at least 10 locations. This comes in the wake of ULFA(I)'s declaration of planting 24 bombs.

Gogoi questioned the efficiency of the police and intelligence services, suggesting that their failure to detect these threats indicates a severe breach of public safety. 'If ULFA can plant bombs at so many places, isn't that a failure of our Home Department and intelligence?' Gogoi queried during a press interaction in Jorhat.

He accused the Home Department of being preoccupied with protecting illicit activities rather than ensuring public security. The discovery of these suspicious objects has led to calls for the Chief Minister's resignation from the opposition, citing it as a 'total failure' of his administration. Gogoi also speculated on the political future, expressing his willingness to contest in the next Assembly polls if his party decides.
