Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala on Saturday criticized the Centre following Karnataka Governor's decision to grant permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. Surjewala labeled the Governor as a 'puppet' for allegedly acting on the behest of his political masters.

Surjewala described the Governor's actions as an act of 'shameless unconstitutionality,' accusing him of bulldozing the law and the Constitution to further BJP's agenda. He asserted that the Congress won a decisive mandate in the 2023 Assembly Elections and accused PM Modi and the BJP of attempting various strategies to destabilize the Congress government, all of which, he said, have failed.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah echoed Surjewala's sentiments, denouncing the Governor's actions as politically motivated. He emphasized his resolve not to resign and accused the BJP of lacking the moral right to demand it. He further alleged that the Central Government opposes the Congress's social justice and welfare schemes due to their success.
