Biden Demands Accountability After American Activist's Death in West Bank

President Joe Biden on Wednesday condemned the Israeli military's killing of American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi in the West Bank, labeling it "totally unacceptable." He asserted that Israel must ensure such incidents never occur again.

Eygi, 26, who was also a Turkish national, was fatally shot on Friday at a protest against settlement expansion in Beita. Israel has acknowledged responsibility for her death, describing it as accidental. Biden emphasized that the U.S. demands continued access to the investigation and full accountability.

Eygi's family has called for an independent investigation, contending that labeling her death an accident whitewashes the Israeli military's actions. "An American citizen was killed by a foreign military in a targeted attack," they stated. Biden also condemned ongoing violence by both extremist Israeli settlers and Palestinian terrorists, advocating for policies holding all extremists accountable.
