Congress workers on Saturday staged a protest against the Governor's decision to allow the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA alternative site scam.
Chanting slogans like 'down down anti-people BJP and JD(S)' and holding placards that read 'Go back Governor' in Kannada, the protesters accused the BJP of conspiring against Siddaramaiah, a leader representative of minorities, backward classes, Dalits, and Adivasis. Tyres were set ablaze in Siddaramaiah's home district as a mark of dissent.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot stated that a neutral and objective investigation is necessary into the allegations, which he believes prima facie indicate the commission of offenses. He also criticized the Council of Ministers for advising him to withdraw his showcause notice and reject the prosecution sanction request.
