Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday urged the Election Commission to announce Maharashtra assembly elections immediately, asserting that the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is prepared to contest unitedly. He opposed the practice of awarding the Chief Minister post to the party with the most MLAs.

Thackeray cited past experiences with the BJP alliance, where competition for the most MLAs led to internal friction. "We should not follow the policy of the party with the most MLAs getting the CM post," he said. Aditya Thackeray echoed this sentiment, calling for the MVA cadre to show strength and unity similar to the Lok Sabha elections.

Senior leaders Sanjay Raut and Sharad Pawar emphasized unity within the MVA. Raut criticized the current BJP leadership, while Pawar urged support for all MVA candidates. The Election Commission is expected to announce the schedule for Haryana and J-K today, with Maharashtra elections anticipated later this year.
