Deposed Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday demanded 'justice,' insisting that those responsible for recent 'terror acts,' killings, and vandalism must be thoroughly investigated and punished.
In her first public statement since her ouster on August 5, the 76-year-old leader noted that several lives have been lost in violent agitations since July.
'I express grief at the deaths of students, teachers, police personnel, pregnant women, journalists, cultural activists, working people, leaders and workers of the Awami League and its allied organisations, pedestrians and employees of several establishments,' Hasina, currently in New Delhi, remarked in a Bengali statement posted by her US-based son Sajeeb Wazed on his X handle.
Hasina further extended her sympathy to those enduring the loss of loved ones and called for a proper investigation to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the violence, recalling the brutal assassination of her family members on August 15, 1975.
