Congressional Race Watch: Key Contests in Upcoming U.S. Elections

The upcoming U.S. House elections on Nov. 5 feature several key races. Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives will defend a narrow majority in the Nov. 5 elections. Here are some key races to watch as Republicans and Democrats battle for control of the chamber.

In Minnesota, Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar faces a familiar rival, Don Samuels, in Minneapolis. Although Omar has been a vocal critic of Israel, pro-Israel groups haven't heavily funded this race.

In Wisconsin, a special election will fill the seat of Republican lawmaker Mike Gallagher, with primaries set for Aug. 13. Candidates from both parties consider it a safe Republican seat.

Noteworthy Democratic contest: Jamaal Bowman of New York and Cori Bush of Missouri were defeated in their primaries by George Latimer and Wesley Bell, respectively, both backed by pro-Israel groups. Both seats are safely Democratic.

In Washington state, Joe Kent was chosen to unseat Democratic Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. In Arizona's 1st District, Republican David Schweikert faces Democratic contender Amish Shah.

New York's suburban districts and Colorado's 4th District present additional battlegrounds, with former CNN journalist John Avlon challenging Republican Representative Nick LaLota. Meanwhile, firebrand conservative Lauren Boebert secured her primary in Colorado after switching districts.
