In a tragic incident at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Jehanabad, seven people lost their lives and nine others were injured in a stampede early Monday morning. Holding the local administration responsible for the mishap, RJD MLA Kumar Krishna Mohan, also known as Suday Yadav, demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victims.

'This is a sad incident and the people responsible for this are Jehanabad's SP and DM. Jehanabad district administration is responsible for this incident. We will meet the injured and the family of the deceased. We will take this issue forward. Compensation should be given. They (administration) have killed people here,' Mohan stated.

Adding emphasis to the significance of the location, Yadav pointed out that the temple is a major tourist destination in Magadh. 'After this incident, post-mortem was done in a hurry. We will not allow this kind of negligence in Jehanabad. A compensation of Rs 10 lakh should be given to victims. The ruling government has not even informed the opposition about the incident,' he noted.

Confirming the incident, Jehanabad DM Alankrita Pandey said, 'At least seven people died and nine were injured in a stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Makhdumpur, Jehanabad district. We are monitoring everything and now the situation is under control.'

Additional statements from SHO Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma and SDO Vikas Kumar indicated that the officials were taking stock of the situation, meeting with affected families, and continuing investigations into the causes of the tragedy.
