Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the Congress for its 'silence' regarding the 'attacks' on Hindus in Bangladesh, claiming that the party is more concerned about Gaza.

Sarma, who is BJP's election co-incharge for Jharkhand, discussed strategies for the 'Yuva Aakrosh Rally' at a party's organisational programme in Ranchi.

Expressing concern over instability in Bangladesh, Sarma stated that the situation is dire. He expressed confidence in the central government's ability to address the issue through diplomatic channels. ''Right now, the situation is very bad there,'' Sarma told reporters at Birsa Munda airport.

Criticizing the Congress, Sarma said, ''The party's leaders have protested for minorities in Gaza, but how many times have they spoken out for Hindus in Bangladesh? The Congress stands with Muslims facing issues worldwide, but not with Hindus.'' On the influx of people from Bangladesh, Sarma emphasized that the central government has not allowed anyone to cross the border, advocating for diplomatic solutions.

Sarma added that the Hindu population has declined in the eastern region bordering Bangladesh and claimed that a big battle against Bangladeshi infiltrators would be launched in Jharkhand if the BJP forms a government there. He also criticized the state government for failing to provide promised jobs and unemployment allowances to youths, prompting the planned Aakrosh rally against the Hemant Soren government. Reacting to Sarma's allegations, Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir said Sarma should focus on his state, while maintaining that external affairs ministry is responsible for ensuring security of our people in Bangladesh.
