Deadly Hotel Attack on Mogadishu's Lido Beach Leaves 32 Dead

Police spokesperson Maj. Abdifatah Adan Hassan reported that besides one soldier who was killed, the rest of the victims were civilians. Another soldier was wounded in the incident.
Witnesses described an explosion followed by gunfire. The extremist group al-Shabab, affiliated with al-Qaida, claimed responsibility for the attack. The site of the attack, Lido Beach, is a popular spot in the city, especially on Friday nights.
