Senior SDF leader Tshering Wangdi Lepcha resigned from the party on Monday, igniting speculations that he may join the ruling SKM.

Lepcha, who served as a former state minister and the senior vice-president of the SDF, addressed his resignation letter to party chief Pawan Chamling, citing 'circumstances beyond control' as the reason for his departure.

Lepcha was responsible for the party's activities in the North and East districts. He contested the 2024 assembly elections from Nathang-Machong constituency but was defeated by SKM's Pamin Lepcha by over 3,500 votes. His recent meeting with Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has fueled further speculation about his potential move to the SKM.
