The opposition BJP and its ally JD(S) kicked off their seven-day 'Mysuru Chalo' march from Bengaluru on Saturday, demanding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's resignation over an alleged illegal site allotment scam in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

Led by BJP state president B Y Vijayendra and JD(S) Youth Wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the march began to the sounds of bugles and drum beats. This protest will culminate in a large public meeting on August 10 in Mysuru.

BJP veteran B S Yediyurappa accused Siddaramaiah of being involved in a corruption case and called for his resignation. Similarly, opposition leader R Ashoka criticized the Congress, stating they lack the moral right to question Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for issuing a notice to the chief minister. Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy also lashed out at the Congress, accusing them of exposing their anti-Dalit stance amidst the MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scam. Banners and flags of BJP-JD(S) were prominently displayed at the venue.
