To Lam Appointed as Vietnam's Top Communist Party Official

The Communist Party of Vietnam has appointed To Lam as the new party general secretary, succeeding the late Nguyen Phu Trong. Lam took over the duties on July 18, just before Trong's passing.

The Communist Party of Vietnam has nominated state President To Lam as the new party general secretary, replacing the late Nguyen Phu Trong who passed away two weeks ago, officials confirmed on Saturday.

On July 18, a day before Trong's death, Lam assumed the responsibilities of party chief due to Trong's declining health.
