Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's social media post where Modi shared Anurag Thakur's alleged caste remark on Rahul Gandhi. Kharge condemned the Prime Minister's actions, asserting that such behavior should not be tolerated in Parliament.

In his post on X, Modi praised Thakur's speech, calling it a blend of humor and facts that exposed the politics of the INDI Alliance. Kharge responded by emphasizing that Thakur's comments were intentionally insulting towards Gandhi and questioned the necessity of the Prime Minister's tweet.

Kharge, strengthening Congress' stance, remarked that taunting and questioning caste have no place in parliamentary proceedings. He voiced concerns about BJP MP Anurag Thakur's use of unparliamentary language against Congress leaders, demanding an apology. Kharge reiterated Congress' commitment to a caste census if the INDI Alliance assumes power.

BJP MP Sambit Patra criticized Congress for overreacting, arguing that Thakur's speech did not name anyone specifically and questioning why Congress was offended. Patra suggested that inquiring about caste is commonplace and should not be met with such resistance.

During a heated exchange in parliament, Thakur criticized Rahul Gandhi's call for a caste census, noting that a former prime minister from Gandhi's party had opposed OBC reservations. Gandhi replied defiantly, insisting that the caste census would eventually be implemented.
