Former US Vice President Al Gore has thrown his support behind Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for the forthcoming high-stake election in November. Gore highlighted her consistent advocacy against oil and gas executives, emphasizing her support for the middle-class and climate efforts.

At 59, Vice President Harris officially launched her presidential campaign following President Joe Biden's decision to opt out of a second term on July 20. However, she awaits the Democratic Party's official nomination. In the upcoming general elections on November 5, she will face former President Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party.

In a statement on Sunday, Gore said, "With so much at stake in this year's election – from strengthening democracy in the US and abroad to expanding opportunities for the American people, and accelerating climate action – I am proud to endorse Kamala Harris for President."

Harris' campaign has also garnered support from four leading environmental organizations, citing her significant role in climate actions and clean energy advancements. Among them are the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, Sierra Club, NRDC Action Fund, and Clean Energy for America Action.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, campaign manager for 'Harris for President,' stated, "Vice President Harris has been at the forefront of protecting our planet from the climate crisis and creating good clean energy jobs that will power our future and grow our middle class."

Conversely, Donald Trump continues to receive criticism for his alliances with oil and gas executives. Environmental leaders commended Harris for her historic accomplishments addressing climate challenges and advancing clean energy, labeling her the ideal candidate to lead climate progress domestically and internationally.
